The UAE has unveiled a world-first consular package for its Golden Visa holders abroad, promising faster support in emergencies, including issuing return documents in 30 minutes, a dedicated 24/7 hotline and repatriation services, officials said today.
The announcement was made in the presence of Omar Obaid Al Hassan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili, Director General of ICP, and officials, employees, and visitors attending at the ongoing GITEX Global in Dubai.
Aligning with the Year of Community
The launch reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who designated 2025 as the “Year of Community” under the theme “Hand in Hand.” The initiative underscores the UAE leadership’s commitment to building a cohesive, prosperous society while integrating government entities to deliver innovative, seamless services.
The program also reinforces the UAE’s standing as a global hub attracting talent, investors, innovators, and exceptional professionals, enabling them to contribute to the nation’s development and progress.
Strategic cooperation to support talent
Omar Obaid Al Hassan Al Shamsi highlighted that the new consular services package aligns with leadership directives to strengthen the UAE’s global talent competitiveness. He noted that the partnership between MoFA and ICP creates an integrated ecosystem that facilitates the lives of Golden Residency holders, ensuring care and support both inside and outside the UAE.
Enhancing institutional integration
Major General Suhail Saeed Al Khaili described the initiative as a qualitative step that strengthens institutional integration in serving residents. ICP, in coordination with MoFA, is developing smart, innovative solutions tailored to the needs of Golden Residency holders, providing a sustainable and safe environment reflecting the UAE’s values of generosity, humanity, and leadership.
Return document in 30 minutes
Shama Aldhaheri, SDO specialist at the ministry, said the package ensures “continuous care and support for residents holding the Golden Visa while they are abroad.”
The first service enables issuance of a return document if a visa holder’s passport is lost or damaged during travel. “We issue this document within 30 minutes,” she said.
Key services for Golden Visa holders
A hotline will operate around the clock exclusively for Golden Visa holders to respond to inquiries, crises or evacuation needs. In cases of death abroad, the ministry will provide repatriation or burial support and assist families in arranging final rites in the UAE.
